Carbon steel knives are meant to be used, cared for, and passed down.
TEMPER is our cold-pressed camellia oil — hand-bottled in small batches and the same oil we use on our own knives. Traditionally used in Japanese blade care for generations, camellia oil has long been valued for protecting fine steel without heavy buildup.
Just a light coat on a clean, dry blade helps guard against moisture and oxidation, support a natural patina over time, and keep your knife performing beautifully.
It can also be applied sparingly to natural wood handles to help maintain their appearance and protect against dryness over time.
Why Camellia Oil?
A naturally sourced, plant-based oil — not petroleum-derived — cold-pressed for a clean, traditional protectant you can feel good about using on your knives. It provides lightweight protection without the thicker feel of many conventional protectants.
While especially important for carbon steel, TEMPER can also be used on stainless steel knives and other metal tools — particularly for long-term storage or in humid environments. A thin protective layer helps preserve the integrity of any well-crafted blade.
We include TEMPER with every carbon steel knife we sell because proper care is part of the craft.
